Small Post - Thoughts

Small Post- Thoughts

A thought has hit me as I prepare my screenshots to do my next blog post on the free rigs I have acquired which I am going to use for my project...it goes something like...

Animation isn't about the technical skills of being able to move controllers in Maya, it's about using what ever means possible to create a convincing character performance, whether that be exaggerating the performance or exaggerating the poses (...I like exaggeration) it's about knowing how to convey emotions through actions, it's about learning everything about movement, everything about performance. Animation at its core is about capturing a performance...and it doesn't matter what tools you use.

Essentially, I should spend as little time as possible developing my Maya skills since I already know how to animate in Maya, but, I should spend as much time as possible observing and learning how to capture performance. While trying to develop my observation into Maya, it will also have the effect of tightening my technical skills anyway.
