Semester Two
Today marks the beginning of semester two. I didn't really do any physical work over the winter break, but more thought about my project a lot. A few days ago I had an idea for my showreel narrative. Since I have several rigs I can use for my showreel, I came up with the idea of a magic door that when the character walks through they come out the other end looking different. Today I have developed a character profile for the sort of character I would like in this narrative. The idea is that the character first shown will have his own personality and when he goes through the door his appearance will change but it is the same person.
This should create interesting actions and emotions to animate since I will have this character reacting to a new body and trying to adapt to it while also (towards the end) frantically trying to get back to his original self.
Note: Mentor meetings have been moved to Tuesdays at 2pm. I will make another post for the character profile and tomorrow before the meeting I will create story beats to show Brian Robinson.
Summary:
I now have a basis for a narrative for the showreel which I feel already has given me the proper motivation to kick on and get some work done. Today I did a character profile and tomorrow I will do story beats and the rest of the week will be spent on storyboards so I can show them at next week's mentor meeting.
